Council is calling on the Coffs community to contribute to the MyCoffs Community Strategic Plan check-in and have their voices heard.

“The plan belongs to everyone” said Nikki Greenwood, Council’s acting Director Sustainable Communities.

“After each local government election councils must work on a Community Strategic Plan (CSP) on behalf of the community to set the direction and agenda for the region for the next 10 years.”

In 2016, Council asked our community – Where are we now? Where do we want to be in 10 years’ time? How will we get there? How will we know when we have arrived?

More than 3,000 community members got involved in creating the MyCoffs Community Strategic Plan through community events, workshops, meetings, focus groups and online actions.

“Back then, the community vision created was that we will be ‘connected, sustainable and thriving’ into the future.” said Ms Greenwood

“Now it’s time for a ‘community check-in’ to see if we’re all on track towards our vision and if we’re taking the best steps to bring it to life for everyone.”

It’s easy to take part and have your voice heard. You can speak up and speak out by:

  1. Being part of a face-to-face community workshop. Four of these will be hosted across the area in early March (Woolgoolga, Sawtell, Coffs Harbour and Coramba). Register your expression of interest here. Registrations close this Sunday 20 February
  2. Completing a survey and sharing your ideas online by Friday 11 March
  3. Taking a quick poll by Friday 11 March

"We want to make sure a diverse mix of voices are included to reflect the makeup of our community” said Ms Greenwood.

People who identify as any of the below are especially encouraged to register for the workshops:

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Cultural or linguistically diverse
  • Living with a disability
  • LGBTQI+
  • Parent or caregiver of child

Community members who complete an online survey or attend a workshop will go into the draw to win one of ten $50 local shopping vouchers or a local getaway to share with family or friends.

The revised Community Strategic Plan will be out for public comment by April 2022.

To stay informed on progress of the MyCoffs CSP and to register for one of the workshops, head to the MyCoffs Community check-in page on Council’s website.

It’s our community’s future. Speak out, speak now – all voices matter!
