Emerald Beach Access Ramp

The City of Coffs Harbour is upgraded the beach access ramp at Emerald Beach Reserve to improve public access to the beach. The project included the demolition of the old ramp and construction of a new reinforced concrete ramp with scour protection, funded by the NSW Government Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program.

North Coast Regional Botanic Garden Mangrove Boardwalk Upgrade

The City is upgraded the Mangrove Boardwalk within the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden to improve safety and visitor experience. The existing timber boardwalk had deteriorated and was removed and replaced with a more durable Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) boardwalk.

Toormina Oval upgrade

One of Coffs Harbour’s key sporting precincts has been transformed, with the completion of a $1.27 million tender to enhance the Toormina Oval. The upgrade has improved the facility, providing modern amenities for local sports teams and the wider community of Coffs Harbour.

Sandy Beach North shared path

Construction of a new shared path for use by pedestrians and cyclists has been completed at Sandy Beach. This project aimed to improve connectivity for the local community, providing a safer and more accessible route for walking and cycling.

Melaleuca Avenue footbridge upgrade

The Melaleuca Footbridge has been upgraded to improve safety, accessibility, and durability. The existing bridge was replaced with a wider, safer, and more durable structure, enhancing access for walkers, cyclists, and mobility scooter users.

Ulong Showground BMX Track and Playground Upgrade

Works at Ulong Showground are complete, with the restored Mountain Mad Wheels BMX track and an upgraded playground now open. The professionally rebuilt track offers a smoother, safer ride, while new play equipment caters to toddlers through to teens. Funded through a City grant and local support, the upgrades create active, inclusive spaces for families and young people.

Repurposing of Brelsford Park tennis courts

Works are now complete at Brelsford Park Tennis Courts and the space is open for more casual, everyday use by the community.

Macauley’s Beach Temporary Stairs

The stairs and a new board and chain ramp have now been installed, along with fencing to direct beach users to the two newly formed access points. These measures will help manage access and slow ongoing erosion.
Works included clearing logs and debris from the nearby stormwater outlet.
The lifesaving box will also be reinstalled.

Lowanna Multi-purpose court

We are excited to announce that a new multi-purpose will be constructed for Lowanna.

Lowanna Playground Upgrade

The existing children's playground at Lowanna is scheduled for an update to improve play opportunities for children and families residing in and visiting Lowanna.

Sawtell Lifeguard Tower Construction

Construction is underway on a new lifeguard tower at Sawtell Beach. The structure is designed to be non-permanent, allowing it to be relocated as needed. Once complete, it will provide an all-weather observation point to support beach safety operations.

Ulong Playground Upgrade

The existing children's playground at Ulong Showground is scheduled for an update to improve play opportunities for children and families residing in and visiting Ulong.

Korora Lagoons – Mechanical Weed Removal and Remediation

The City has completed detailed investigations into the Korora Lagoons system to inform future remediation efforts

Coffs Creek Protection Project

A permanent rock retaining wall is being constructed to prevent erosion and protect the waterway. This project will also benefit community by providing a new footpath and boardwalk to
improve pedestrian access, as well as a new jetty pier and seating space for everyone to enjoy the area.

Wonga Park Sawtell – Playground renewal

The Wonga Playground, located at the corner of First and Third Avenue in Sawtell, is planned for a significant upgrade. The existing playground has reached the end of its useful life and will be replaced with a new, modern play space designed to better suit the local environment and community needs.

Island Road Sapphire Beach Footbridge Renewal

The new existing timber bridge will be replaced with a Fibre-reinforced Polymer (FRP) Bridge. The new bridge will be placed over the existing bridge footprint and alignment.

Boambee Creek Bridge Maintenance and Footbridge Replacement

Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will be carrying out essential maintenance works of the Boambee Creek Bridge, commencing from Monday 5th February 2024. The complete removal and replacement of the council-owned pedestrian footbridge as well as repairs to the centre-span eastern side girder of the railway bridge.

Land Slip Repairs Eastern Dorrigo Way

Essential land slip repairs will be taking place on Eastern Dorrigo Way. These repairs are to address the damages caused by the natural disasters experienced in 2022, and they are funded under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Brelsford Park Enhancements Project

Planning is underway to design and construct a new civic entry and water play, community event space and mobile kiosk pad to further enhance Brelsford Park.

Woolgoolga Whale Trail Project

Detailed plans are being prepared for improving the accessibility and safety of paths, seating and parking connecting Woolgoolga Beach Reserve with the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk.

Heating upgrades at Coffs Harbour War Memorial Olympic Swimming Pool

This infrastructure project will see the Coffs Harbour War Memorial Olympic Swimming Pool facility upgraded to provide heated pools available all year round.

Mullaway Beach Reserve Revitalisation Project

We have installed a new beach shower, play attractions, picnic table, accessible car parking and pathway linking the new amenities.

Yarrila Place Project

Construction is underway on Yarrila Place, the Coffs Harbour Cultural and Civic Space project that will combine arts, people, technology and culture to create a vibrant community hub.

Sandy Beach Reserve Community Hub and Active Youth Space Project

Construction has been completed on a new skate park and multi-purpose court at Sandy Beach Reserve.A new playground, pathways, picnic facilities and landscaping are planned for early 2023.

Park Beach Dune reshaping works

To improve access, safety and views we will be lowering and re-shaping the dunes between the Surf Club and Beach.

Wiigulga Sports Complex Project

A new integrated sport and community facility located on the northern edge of Woolgoolga.

Woolgoolga Beach Reserve Project

The first stage is complete, with a new playground, amenities, pathways, picnic tables and shelters.

Nana Glen Playground Project

We have completed construction on a new playground for young children at Len Towells Oval in Nana Glen.

Sawtell Gillibri Crescent Playground Upgrade Project

We have completed upgrades to the playground in Gillibri Crescent Sawtell.

Sandy Beach Playground Upgrade Project

We have completed upgrades to the playground in Seacrest Boulevard Sandy Beach.

Moonee Forest Cycleway Project

The Moonee Forest Cycleway is now complete, providing a safe and pleasant route for cyclists and pedestrians.

Hogbin Drive and De Havilland Way Intersection Upgrade

The City of Coffs Harbour is committed to improving road safety and traffic flow within our community. Construction for a new roundabout at the intersection of De Havilland Way and Hogbin Drive will commence shortly and is expected to be completed by June 2025.
