Community Engagement

Council uses community engagement processes when making decisions with or on behalf of community members of the Coffs Local Government Area (LGA).

Council has legal responsibilities to deliver engagement and participation processes based on the social justice principles of equity, access, participation and rights.

Being guided by these principles allows diverse voices to be embraced by Council when making decisions or taking actions on behalf of the Coffs LGA.

There are two key documents that directs Council’s approach to community engagement:

MyCoffs Community Strategic Plan

The MyCoffs Community Strategic Plan is community led and reflects the community’s aspirations for the Coffs LGA and sets direction for Council’s planning and decision making over a 10-year period.

Community Participation and Engagement Plan

The Community Participation and Engagement Plan explains why, when and how Council will engage with the community in decision making functions, including plans, policies, programs and other activities.
