City of Coffs Harbour’s rising status as a premier destination for cultural enrichment will be furthered when some of the world’s leading provocateurs put on a show at Yarrila Place.

In a hotpot of fodder for the mind, residents and visitors will be able to tap into the Sydney Writers’ Festival from the comfort of the new Harry Bailey Memorial Library.

Through its ‘Live & Local’ program, the festival will live-stream from its inner-west base direct to Yarrila Place.

The event has been running since 1997, and is an eclectic gathering of celebrated novelists, poets, journalists, public intellectuals, economists, politicians, podcasters and scientists.

The Coffs Harbour sessions will screen in real time – allowing the audience at the Harry Bailey Memorial Library to engage directly with the presenters in Q and A opportunities.

“Sydney Writers’ Festival has a growing global reputation as an event which entertains, stimulates and provokes,” City of Coffs Harbour City Planning and Communities Director Chris Chapman said.

“Bringing this creative casserole to Yarrila will build on the traction this popular facility has fast gained in the region.”

Sydney Writers’ Festival is Australia’s largest celebration of books and ideas, and it will live-stream its headline events to the Harry Bailey Memorial Library on 23-26 May (Thursday to Sunday).
