Access to Information Forms

Informal Access Request

You can request specific information using this form to enable Council to find the information you are seeking. Council aims to release information without the need for a Formal Access Application, unless there are overriding public interest considerations against disclosure.

Council may release information to you subject to any conditions that it sees fit to impose and is permitted to decide by what means information is released and may delete any matter from a copy of the record.  There is no application fee for access to information under Schedule 1, Government Information (Public Access) Regulation 2009.  However, fees may be payable per page for copying information.  View Council’s fees and charges.

There is no statutory time frame that applies to an informal access request, however Council will aim to process your request within 10 working days depending on resources and workloads.

You can make informal access requests to Council in the following ways:

  • In person; or
  • Over the phone; or
  • In writing or email to Council; or
  • By completing the following form.

Formal Access Application

If you haven’t been able to get information through an Informal Access Request, you can pursue the matter by lodging a Formal Access Application.

You must lodge your request in writing starting that it is a Formal Access Application under the GIPA Act, be accompanied by a $30 application fee and specify the information you seek to enable that it can be identified by Council. Alternatively, you may complete a Formal Access Application. Processing charges may also apply, refer to the guideline for more information. If you are dissatisfied with Council's decision, a right of review and appeal is available.

Internal Review Application (Formal Access Applications only)

You may exercise your right of internal review if you are dissatisfied with Council's decision.  A fee of $40.00 is payable upon lodgement of your application.  Your application will need to be lodged within 20 working days after the notice of decision is given or where Council did not decide your application within the statutory time frame.
