City of Coffs Harbour is committed to the ongoing development and revitalisation of the whole city. We see the city centre playing a pivotal role through the creation of economic, social and cultural opportunities.

City centre projects

New shade sails

New shade sails have been installed at strategic locations across the City Centre to provide shelter for pedestrian movement through the area and to identify the City Centre as a location. New sails were installed at Moonee Street as well as Harbour Drive, West High Street and Vernon Street near their intersections with the Pacific Highway in September 2017.

Artist Lanes

City of Coffs Harbour and the City Centre Masterplan Committee want to build on the great work of street artists in Park Avenue Lane and are exploring the potential to expand street art projects to other laneways within the City Centre over coming years.

Harbour Drive-Gordon Street restructure project

Major drainage works were undertaken along with removal of the Harbour Drive/Gordon Street roundabout and replacement with traffic lights to improve pedestrian safety and movement through the City Centre. This project was completed in August 2016.

Duke Street extension

Extension of Duke Street is an initiative to facilitate improved traffic and pedestrian flows through the City Centre. Duke Street was extended temporarily during the Harbour Drive-Gordon Street works to provide a traffic detour. Duke Street road works were completed in November 2016. Interpretive historical signage and street furniture was installed and landscaping completed in October 2017.

Castle Street car park

Castle Street car park underwent a facelift including construction of top-floor shade structures, lifts and a program of structural repairs. The works were completed in 2016.

Castle Street new amenities

The new Castle Street amenities block was opened in 2014, offering a safer facility which has subsequently been upgraded to include a Changing Places inspired disabled facility.
