A driveway access (from the property boundary to the kerb and gutter and/or road edge) is the responsibility of the property owner. Any work by private owners in the City’s road reserves requires written approval under Section 138 of the Roads Act 1993. This includes the construction of a private driveway access and connecting to a public roadway, including kerb modification.
Please Note: Driveway access is generally limited to one point per street frontage. Under exceptional circumstances, consideration may be given to the provision of a second driveway access. For further requirements please refer to Part F1 of the City's Development Control Plan and Section 2.12.4 of Appendix A – Driveway and property access procedure of the City’s Technical Specification for Infrastructure Design.
Driveway Application (Driveway Access Certificate Request)
If the application is deemed suitable for approval, a Driveway Access Certificate will be issued. The Driveway Access Certificate contains conditions that must be adhered to during the construction of the driveway.
Driveway works may only commence after the Driveway Access Certificate has been issued. When the formwork/reinforcement is in place, a pre-pour inspection must be completed prior to pouring concrete.
Inspection Booking Request
The City's Supervising Officers will complete a pre-pour inspection at the property. You will be notified if the works are satisfactory or if additional works and a re-inspection is required prior to pouring concrete.
Once a satisfactory pre-pour inspection has been completed, driveway works may continue.
The Driveway Notice of Completion confirms that the driveway works have been completed to the City's satisfaction and the Driveway Access Certificate conditions. If the driveway works are in relation to an approved Development Application or Complying Development Certificate, the Notice of Completion may be required prior to issue of an Occupation Certificate.
