Nearly half of all water used in the home is used in the bathroom and toilet. The following tips may help you reduce the water you use:

  • Check your shower and basin taps for leaks and fix. Did you know one drip every second could waste as much as 1,576 litres a year?
  • Install flow controllers to your taps.
  • Only fill the bath as much as necessary.
  • Regularly check for leaks in your toilet. See the below video to find out how.
  • Install a modern water efficient shower head and save as much as 10 litres a minute. The City has rebates for eligible residents.
  • Replace your single flush toilet with a dual-flush suite and you could save 35,00 litres of water a year. Check to see if you are eligible for a rebate.
  • Always check the WELS water rating for any new appliances you buy. Remember the more stars, the more water efficient.
  • Don't flush baby wipes, feminine hygiene products and food down the toilet. This not only wastes water, it puts a strain on the sewerage system.
  • Regularly check for a hidden water leak at your home.
