Recycled water is water that has been reclaimed from wastewater through treatment. This recycled water can then be supplied back into water system, for a variety of uses. On the Coffs Coast recycled water is only used for non-drinking purposes.
The production of recycled water at the City’s Water Reclamation Plants (WRPs) is performed under licence from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). This recycled water is supplied for use through the ‘purple pipe’ distribution network or is discharged into the Pacific Ocean through a Deep-Sea Release. Our recycled water is utilised by farmers, sporting facilities and nurseries.

In accordance with the NSW EPAs requirements, the City regularly monitors the quality of the treated water discharged from the WRPS. Results from this monitoring are updated monthly and are available for anyone to view electronically (see sample point data below).
