Beach Wheelchair

​Beach wheelchairs are a great way of accessing the benefits of the beach and the shallow water for people with a disability.

Council offers free use of two Sandcruiser all-terrain chairs, one at Park Beach (Coffs Harbour) and one at Woolgoolga, as well as the free use of two Hippocampe Beach Wheelchairs at Jetty Beach.

There are also a number of beach wheelchairs available for free community use across the Coffs Harbour LGA.

Coffs Harbour

1. Located at Park Beach and managed by Coffs Harbour City Council Lifeguard Service (see example on the left in image above).

2. Located at Jetty Beach and managed by Coffs Harbour City Council Lifeguard Service (see example on the right in image above).

Woolgoolga

Located at Woolgoolga Beach Holiday Park and managed by park reception.

​Coffs Harbour

1. Located at Park Beach and managed by Coffs Harbour Surf Lifesaving Club (see example on the right in image above).
Enquiries and bookings: 02 6652 3245 and dial extension 2 to speak to Surf Lifesaving Club admin.
If required, Council Lifeguards on duty at Park Beach can also access the Surf lifesaving Club wheelchair during patrol hours

2. Located at Jetty Beach and managed by Coffs Harbour Yacht Club.

Sawtell

Located at Sawtell Main Beach and managed by Sawtell Surf Lifesaving Club.
Due to steep beach access at Sawtell, the Club encourages anyone considering using the beach wheelchair to check first if the access is feasible for them.

Making an Online Beach Wheelchair Booking

To book a chair available through our online booking system use the blue button below:

  • Choose the "Yes" button on the home page next to Wheelchairs to Access Beaches
  • Choose "Use Outdoor Space" and "Beach Accessibility"
  • Choose your preferred date and list number of attendees as 1.

The system will show you which chairs are available and for what hours on that day. If you want to book just carry on through the entire process.

You will receive a confirmation email if the booking has been successful.
