Emerald Beach Reserve Upgrade: Fiddaman Rd realignment

The works will commence on 6 July 2026 and will take approximately 4 months (weather permitting).

The City recognises the importance of the recently completed playground, amenities and BBQs for the community of Emerald Beach and visitors to the reserve. Therefore, these facilities will remain available during the construction period.

Yes, beach access will remain available during the works, although some access points will be affected.

The beach access ramp used for entry and exit to the beach will be closed during construction. However, the three beach access paths within the reserve will remain open, as will the beach stairs from the Headland Walk. The “Love Seat” will also remain accessible.

The Boardwalk and Headland Walk will stay open throughout the project; however, there will be no access through to Fiddaman Road from the Boardwalk while works are underway.

There will be no change to the dog walking areas.

Parking will be limited due to the closure of the Fiddaman Road and Ocean View Crescent at the entry to the reserve.

The four parallel car parks adjacent the restaurant will be reconfigured as 90-degree parking, with signs in place to indicate these spaces are for restaurant parking.

A one-way traffic route with no parking will be place along Flagstaff Avenue to accommodate diverted traffic during construction (refer Traffic Plan in Related Information). Traffic control will also be in place to ensure a smooth operation.

Waste collection services will remain unchanged for residents along Ocean View Crescent. For residents between Semaphore Street and the closure point, for the duration of construction the waste collection contractor will collect biins on foot, wheel them to the truck, empty and then return them to the resident’s property.

There is no change to the days for residents to put bins out or the locations at which bins are to be placed for collection.

During construction, the bus stops at Emerald Beach Reserve (Fiddaman Road opposite Surf Street) and the Emerald Beach General Store (Fiddaman Road opposite Flagstaff Avenue) will be closed. During this time, residents can use alternative bus stops on Flagstaff Avenue and on Fiddaman Road at Island View Street (refer to the Traffic Plan in the related information section).
