Three economic priorities underpin the revised Draft Coffs Harbour Economic Development Strategy 2022-2027 with the goal of ensuring the best outcomes for business, visitors and individuals.

An earlier Draft Strategy was exhibited in June and July 2022. The feedback led to a significant review that takes into account measurable alignment with broader City initiatives and a clear suite of direct actions. This revised draft identifies and prioritises strategic actions and measurements while considering the current and future needs of our community from an economic, social and environmental perspective.

The revised draft strategy will go out for community review and feedback for 28 days from Friday 28 October to Monday 28 November 2022.

The key priorities of the Draft Strategy are to:

  • Attract and retain necessary skills, capability, investments and people
  • Support local businesses, creating economic, social and environmental sustainability
  • Develop existing and future business, industries and places to create a thriving economy.

“The revised Draft Strategy provides a blueprint for a robust and resilient local economy,” said Coffs Harbour Mayor Councillor Paul Amos.  “It sets a strong foundation to provide the resources and solutions we will need to be able to face the social and environmental challenges in front of us. This is an ambitious document in both its magnitude and its balanced agenda as we are an ambitious city capable of exceptional things.”

While the City of Coffs Harbour local government area supports traditional industries such as tourism and agriculture, the local economy is ready for development and to embrace emerging industries that will be important for our community.

“As a region, we have strong economic opportunities through a cluster of economic, tourism and employment anchors such as health, education, sporting facilities and aviation,” said Natalia Cowley, City of Coffs Harbour General Manager.

“Supporting and growing our existing businesses, attracting quality investment and fostering new businesses, education and tourism, will further support our vibrant and growing City and help generate new jobs.”

The draft strategy will be available for review and comment from 28 October on the City’s Have Your Say website
