22 August 2016 Still Life Masterclass on Offer

Artist Dean Home will be providing a unique insight into the techniques he uses to create his celebrated, luminous still life paintings at a Masterclass at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery on Saturday, August 27.

His masterful works in this traditional art form feature dramatic composition and theatrical lighting and the Masterclass will give the audience access to the tools and techniques he uses.

He has held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Australia and is represented in state, regional and private collections both in Australia and overseas. His portraiture is held in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, the National Australia Bank, Telstra Collection and Artbank collection.

Home is currently showing ‘Travels under the Red Cliffs’ at the Gallery alongside works by former Eutick Memorial Still Life Award (EMSLA) winner and significant Australian landscape artist Angus Nivison and Coffs Harbour artist Helen Young who specialises in watercolour.

All three exhibitions feature startling new works in art forms that are most often seen as traditional - landscape, still life and watercolours.

The exhibitions are on show from August 26 until September 24. All are welcome for the Opening Night on Friday, August 26, from 6pm. Entry is $5, under 18s free.

There will also be an ‘Artists in Conversation:  Helen Young, Angus Nivison and Dean Home’ event at the Gallery on Saturday, August 27 at 10am. Entry is free and morning tea will be served.

Dean Home’s Masterclass will be hosted at the Gallery on Saturday, August 27, from 12pm-1.30pm. Entry is $35 per person.
