29 November 2016 Growers Market Catches the Christmas Spirit

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at the Coffs Coast Growers Market! From trees to puddings plus unique gifts and fresh produce, the markets are a great opportunity to shop local this festive season, direct from the growers and makers.

Over the next three weeks the folks from North Coast Christmas Trees will be taking orders and selling both cut and potted trees at the markets. These perfectly shaped trees are grown in the picturesque village of Coramba, and take up to three years to reach the largest size. With sustainability a focus on the farm, each year the harvested trees are replaced, ensuring a constant rotation of small and large trees.

If you are after traditional festive goodies, make sure you drop by and see Adele ‘the pudding lady’ who has a great range of home-made Christmas cakes and puddings, including sugar free and brandy infused, all lovingly made in Korora. Gabrielle from Mum’s Home Baking will have her sweet and savoury delights each week in the lead up to Christmas.

Market goers will also find unique Christmas gifts including the new compact, sustainable Vertipots gardens, 100% organic mozzie repellant from The Incense Bar, the perfect partner for your Christmas ham from Bakarindi Bush Foods, as well as handmade soaps, a variety of sourdough breads, local honey and more!

Don’t forget to bring your bags and shop for the the freshest fruit, vegetables and eggs from farms around the district – often harvested less than 24 hours before. Meet the farmers and get their advice on how to use and store their produce. You can also now buy Waterfall Produce’s organic and Orara Valley pasture-raised beef direct from the markets.

If you are interested in having a stall at the Growers Market, please contact Nicole McLennan: call 02 6648 4834, or email nicole.mclennan@chcc.nsw.gov.au.
