A new Draft
Events Strategy designed to cement Coffs Harbour’s status as one of Australia’s
premier event-friendly cities is going out for public comment from Wednesday
April 20, 2016.
Last year, Coffs Harbour won a
globally-acclaimed International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) World
Festival and Event City Award, gaining recognition alongside major cities
around the world.
“That award was fantastic recognition for the amazing work the
community achieves by working together to attract and successfully run a huge
range of major events and community festivals,” said Coffs Harbour Mayor
Councillor Denise Knight.
“The partnership we have with the business - and wider – community, as
well as our event partners has been critical to the success of the events we regularly
host. This new strategy aims to build on that partnership to reinforce Coffs
Harbour’s well-deserved reputation as the Mid North Coast’s regional event
Coffs Harbour hosts a widely diverse calendar of events. These range
from the Kennards Hire Rally Australia plus major cricket, NRL, AFL, rugby, Touch,
Oztag, running, swim and soccer tournaments, to the annual Buskers Festival, Woolgoolga
Curryfest and the Multicultural Harmony Day Festival.
It is calculated that events like these alone pump around $30million
annually into the local economy.

The Draft Coffs Harbour Events Strategy 2020 will be on exhibition for
28 days from Wednesday, April 20 2016, until
Tuesday, May 17 2016.
