21 December 2016 Bridge Works Prompt Full Road Closure

A full road closure is to be placed on the “Old Coast Road N01 Bridge” located on Old Coast Road between the Pacific Highway and Korora Basin Road commencing Tuesday January 17, 2017.

The full road closure is required to enable the current bridge deck and guardrail to be removed to allow replacement of defective girders and structural elements.   Following the replacement of the defective components the current weight restriction will be removed.

The bridge work is scheduled to ensure the minimum disruption to ordinary and school traffic.

Council will liaise with emergency services to provide essential support for the residents during the full road closure.

A foot bridge will be erected to provide access between the Pacific Highway and Korora Basin Road to enable pedestrian / cycle access during the full road closure.

Council understands that the full road closure may cause significant impacts on the local community. Where residents have specific needs or concerns Council will make every attempt to accommodate them.

Whilst the full road closure is in effect signage will be in place to control and direct traffic.

“We would ask for the community’s patience while these essential public safety works are carried out.  Choosing to use the alternate route and always following traffic control directions during the works will help assist us to provide this upgraded and much needed infrastructure,” Said Terry Thorn, Section Leader Infrastructure Maintenance (Roads & Open Spaces).

The full road closure will commence Tuesday January 17, 2017 and extend until and including Tuesday January 24, 2017.

During the full road closure no vehicular traffic will be available between the Pacific Highway and Korora Basin Road via the Old Coast Road.

During the full road closure an alternate route will be available via Solitary Islands Way via Old Coast Road / Hunter Close.
