6 October 2015 Startups are Rocking

Six Degrees Coworking’s startup mentoring programme is holding a Tech Startup Salon on October 15 with special guest speaker Brendan Yell of SoftLayer, an IBM Company.

Brendan has a long history of startup successes (and failures) which he will share with local entrepreneurs.

After his experience of working with INXS on their website, Brendan believes starting a business is a lot like starting a band. He says: “Band members are all so different, but just like a startup, they use their complementary skills to work towards, and achieve, a common purpose.”

Brendan is also mentor and advisor to all the big name accelerators in the Australian Startup scene - Muru-D, AngelCube, Upstart, and Slingshot.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to tap into his wealth of experience,” said Stephen Saunders, Council’s Section Leader Industry and Destination Development.

“As part of the Salon we will have a live mentoring session where Brendan will be happy to chat to local entrepreneurs and offer advice – all in the casual and relaxed atmosphere offered by the Cellar Lounge at the Pier Hotel.”

Are you a startup founder or team member? Thinking of starting up? Have the skills or resources that startups need like coding, designing, programming, marketing, financial backing? This Salon is a great opportunity to use your skills and connect with local startups and digital entrepreneurs.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 15, at the Cellar Lounge in the Pier Hotel, Jetty Strip, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.

Registrations are essential. To find out more, or to register your interest, contact kristina.cooke@chcc.nsw.gov.au or call 02 6648 4089.
