28 May 2015 Final Chance to Take the Digital Challenge

There are only a few days left to take part in the TELSTRA Stores Coffs Harbour Digital Innovation Challenge and be in with a chance to get your start-up started.

The Challenge is a competition designed to inspire budding entrepreneurs to create and pitch their innovative digital solution to improve business - and provide them with the prize money and specialist support they need to make it happen.

A total of $10,000 worth of cash and prizes is on offer over two categories – Open Entrepreneur (25s and Over) and Youth Entrepreneur (Under 25s). But entries close on June 5 2015.

Council and a number of local sponsors, TELSTRA, Janison, ETC, SCU, Coffs Harbour Innovation Centre and Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce – plus Sydney-based start-up incubators BlueChilli - together created the Digital Innovation Challenge.

It is open to any type of business improvement solution or market need. For example, it can be a business2business solution, consumer application or a social enterprise.

It was launched in April and was split into three stages - Stage 1 – BUILD YOUR PITCH, Stage 2 – THE VIDEO/PAPER PITCH and Stage 3 – THE LIVE PITCH.

As part of the Challenge, a series of workshops were run to help local entrepreneurs develop business ideas and pitches to make sure that all entrants had the best opportunity of winning.

“As a city at the forefront of digital innovation, the Challenge is an excellent way to help local entrepreneurs take their ideas from ‘what if’ to ‘startup’,” said Nikki Greenwood, Council’s Group Leader City Prosperity.

The competition finalists will go into the LIVE PITCH to be held at C.ex Coffs on June 25 from 10am to 12pm. At the event, finalists will each have five minutes to pitch their idea to an expert Judging Panel, followed by questions from the Panel.
