Applying for a role

Applying for any of our jobs is simple, however please set aside 10 to 15 minutes of your time before you start, as we like to get as much information as we can from you before making a decision on who we would like to interview. The process involves four simple steps.

1. Find the position you are interested in

All of our positions vacant will be advertised under the Current Vacancies tab. Here you can view all vacant positions OR refine the list by using the search function.

2. Carefully read the job advertisement and the attached position description

The job advertisement and position description will give you a good idea about the role and what we are looking for in candidates. Please take the time to carefully review both the advertisement and the position description.

You can find the position description by selecting Download PD at the bottom of each advertisement.

3. Review your CV and create a cover letter

After carefully reviewing the job advertisement and position description, either create a new CV and cover letter or edit your current CV and cover letter so that they clearly show how your skills and experiences align to the requirements of the role.

Remember to make your CV and cover letter succinct – We receive high volumes of applications for each role and need to be able to clearly see which candidates meet the requirements of each role.

4. Complete the application form

Once you are ready to apply, you will need to click the Apply Now button which will prompt you to complete an application form. Here we ask you a series of questions, including those regarding your contact details, rights to work in Australia and reference checks. You will also be asked some questions specific to the role you are applying for. You need to answer all of the questions in the application form to progress.

5. Upload your CV and cover letter

Finally, you will be asked to upload your CV and cover letter. Please ensure that these documents are in a compatible format. Formats accepted by our system include: Word doc, PDF and JPG.

Unsolicited Applications

The City of Coffs Harbour does not accept unsolicited applications or applications that don't directly relate to the position advertised.
