Locals living with a disability are being urged to come along to the very first Disability Inclusive Emergency Planning (DIEP) Forum on Wednesday 26 April 2023.

The forum is being hosted by the City of Coffs Harbour in partnership with the University of Sydney’s Leave Nobody Behind research project.

“The fires, floods and pandemic of recent years have shown us that disasters happen fast and can have long-lasting impacts,” said Ian Fitzgibbon, Acting Director Sustainable Communities at City of Coffs Harbour.

“Hosting this forum in partnership with the University of Sydney, means we can support everyone in our community, regardless of age or ability, and equip them with the skills we all need to better prepare, respond and recover from disaster.

“The success of the forum and value to our community will be driven by the people in the room. We are particularly interested to hear from people with a disability, so come and be a part of this important conversation,” added Mr Fitzgibbon.
