A design competition to find an inspiring and striking new logo and tagline for City of Coffs Harbour has been launched today.

There will be three categories for logo design entries:

  1. School students – open to all primary and high school students who attend a school within the City of Coffs Harbour LGA
  2. Local non-professional aspiring creatives who reside within the City of Coffs Harbour LGA
  3. Local professional branding and design businesses within the City of Coffs Harbour LGA

There is a 4th category for tagline entries.

Each category winner will receive a Coffs Coast destination experience to the value of $250. The overall winner of best logo design will receive a $500 gift voucher to buy local anywhere in the City of Coffs Harbour local government area.

City of Coffs Harbour General Manager Natalia Cowley said: “There is an amazing amount of talent here on the Coffs Coast.  We are a city on the cusp of change, situated on Gumbaynggirr country, half way between Sydney and Brisbane, we have a vibrant community and need a contemporary visual identity to help us make our mark.”

The name City of Coffs Harbour – the legally proclaimed name for the local area - was recently adopted and includes all villages, townships and suburbs in Council’s local government area.

“We are all part of City of Coffs Harbour and our staff proudly work for the City. We want the new logo to reflect that inclusive nature and the whole community,” added Ms Cowley.

All entries will be judged and short-listed by the City’s Mayor and General Manager. A short-list for each category will then be presented to Council to choose the winners.

The new logo will eventually be used on all of City of Coffs Harbour stationery, social media, websites, business cards, banners/signs, vehicle signage, street flags and welcome signs. Use of the new logo will be implemented gradually as items need to be replaced and existing stock runs out rather than as a single exercise.

The tagline element of the competition is seeking an aspirational statement or phrase that describes what we strive for both as an organisation and as a community. This would be used on certain occasions across print and digital.

Entries close on 4.30pm Friday, 28 October 2022. To find out more about the competition and how to enter, visit coffsharbour.nsw.gov.au/logo-comp.

The winners are expected to be announced in mid November 2022.
