Coffs Harbour City Councillor Scott Wolgamot

As a newly-elected Councillor (2022), but long-time resident (since 1984), I now have the chance to learn quickly about how to best serve the community that is home.

Since 1984 my wife and I have been fortunate to have 3 sons born and educated in Coffs, all graduating from Jetty High. Their activities have brought me into serving on Committees for P&C, soccer club, swim club, and volunteering for other tasks.

Work experience brought a place on the CHCC Agricultural Advisory Committee (now disbanded).

In between those things there has been time for rugby union, touch football, mountain biking, volleyball and the beach. I am still enjoying the latter three.

Working life has been varied, starting with surveying and engineering in Minnesota, New Zealand, and Australia, eventually leading into horticulture in the early days of blueberry growing. I have worked in that role for many years, including a stint in China.

Coming onto Council I have no pre-ordained positions, no ties to any organisation. I’m ready to study, listen, learn, and hope to help move us in the right direction.
