NAIDOC Week
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee.
The theme for NAIDOC Week 2022 is "Get up, stand up, show up."
Each year the Coffs Harbour area enjoys a full calendar of NAIDOC activities here on Gumbaynggirr Country. Events cover sport, food, art and culture and are open to the whole Coffs Harbour community. Council and the Yandaarra Aboriginal Advisory Committee are proud to host two events which are a key part of the local NAIDOC calendar.
