Wellbeing, fostering a sense of community, belonging and diversity are all important to us as a community, and have been included in the Community Strategic Plan.
City of Coffs Harbour seeks to ensure people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds have access to our services and programs, can participate in our planning processes and that we provide a welcome place for migrants, refugees and international students.
As an organisation we:
- are a Refugee Welcome Zone, declared in 2008.
- host an annual Harmony Festival to coincide with National Harmony Week.
- organise Refugee Week activities to acknowledge the contribution of refugees and acknowledge the area's settlement status.
- support local multicultural communities, services, projects and initiatives.
Multicultural NSW has developed a Settlement Portal to help connect migrants with the information they need to successfully settle in NSW.
