Important update regarding Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In line with the next phase of Government COVID-19 restrictions easing, the Cavanbah Centre and Village meeting rooms managed by Coffs Harbour City Council will be reopening with restrictions from 19 June 2020. This includes the Seminar Hut and 189B Harbour Drive.

The safety and wellbeing of customers, staff and volunteers remains our top priority and we want to assure you we have put measures in place accordingly.

Opening Restrictions and Limitations

Community Centres and Halls managed by Coffs Harbour City Council will be adjusting current use from 19 June to reflect the easing of restriction changes as follows:-

  1. Capacity must not exceed one person per 4 square metres including staff members.

  2. Classes or organised events must not have more than 20 participants (not including the persons conducting or assisting in the conduct of the class or event, or parents, guardians and carers of participants).

  3. Premises must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan.

All the other usual social distancing and hygiene measures apply.

Council staff are preparing for the further permitted use. They are working with users of the facilities to ensure responsibilities being placed on hirers by the NSW Government requirements are met.  Online bookings for the Community Village and Cavanbah Centre will continue to be unavailable for now.

Hygiene Measures

At this time and into the future, the following hygiene and safety measures will continue inside Cavanbah Centre and Village meeting rooms:

  • Social distancing rules to be followed
  • Perspex sneeze guards installed at customer service points
  • Hand sanitiser stations made available
  • Signage displayed with COVID-19 safety messages
  • Kitchen facilities will remain closed at this time. Disposable cups will be available.
  • We ask that people please stay home if they are feeling at all unwell

All hirers are to apply social distancing and hygiene practices. Hirers of the facilities will be required to:

  • Make available hand hygiene, waste receptacle and cleaning products
  • Wipe clean all surfaces to be used including chairs and tables prior to use
  • Maintain an attendance and contact register
  • Adhere to 1.5m social distancing
  • Adhere to space restrictions of one person per 4 square metres
  • Adhere to floor markings
  • Use hand sanitiser upon entry and maintain hygiene practices
  • Not use the kitchenette facilities which remain closed at this time
  • Not attend if you are unwell

We also recommend you download the COVIDSafe app.

Online bookings for the Cavanbah Centre and Village Rooms remains unavailable and we ask you please contact the Coffs Harbour Community Village reception (details below).

We have developed a Return to Council Managed Facilities Checklist to assist you with planning your return. You'll also be required to submit to the Booking Officer a COVID-19 Risk Assessment for your activity, which forms part of the hire agreement documentation they will provide to you at the time of booking.
