The announcement by the Federal Government that people still experiencing hardship following the March 31 floods can apply for a special one-off payment of $1,000 has been welcomed with delight by Bellingen Shire Mayor Cr Mark Troy and Coffs Harbour City Council Mayor Cr Keith Rhoades.

Government Payments for Flood Events
For the 31 March Storm A one-off, ex-gratia payment of $1,000 per household is available to people who are still experiencing hardship following the March flooding on or after 29 September 2009. This financial assistance to homeowners will be provided to households that still need to undertake repairs at an estimated cost of $1,000 or more as a direct result of the March floods. People have until 18 December to lodge their claim. Call Centrelink on 180 22 55 or visit your local Centrelink office.
For 5 November Storm The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) of $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child has been activated to assist people who were adversely affected following the November 5 storms and associated flooding.
