Anti Speeding TV Adverts
Council worked with multimedia students at Southern Cross University to produce a series of road safety television commercials on Channel Ten and NBN in 2004 aimed at the 16-25 age group.
The ads were funded with a $10,000 grant from the Attorney General's Department administered by Coffs Harbour City Council.
Figures show that 59% of drivers who lose their licences statewide through speeding are in the 16-25 age bracket. In the Coffs Harbour area alone in 2002, there were 774 speeding infringements in this age group. Almost half of all speeding drivers involved in fatal crashes on NSW country roads are under 30. Young males are the most likely to be involved in a fatal accident.
