27 Nov 08 - Rabbitohs Arrive for First Training Camp

The South Sydney Rabbitohs arrive in Coffs Harbour on December 1 for their first training week at Camp Rabbitoh in the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort.

South Sydney logo"Although the squad is here to use the training facilities at Camp Rabbitoh, the players, coaches and officials are spending an equal amount of time meeting local fans, training young players in school sessions and meeting the community," said Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Keith Rhoades.

"The club has always made clear that they want to become a part of this community, a commitment they've already demonstrated with their 'Souths Cares' programme, and I know they will get a very warm welcome locally.

"This first training week is a great chance for local fans to meet their heroes face-to-face and make them feel at home," he said.

As well as training, the Rabbitohs have a packed week of activities that includes a Civic Welcome with Koori Smoking Ceremony, a series of School Training Camps, autograph signing sessions and swimming with the dolphins at the Pet Porpoise Pool.

"We're really looking forward to our first training camp at Camp Rabbitoh and we keen to be involved with the people of Coffs Harbour," Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said.

"We'll be using our two pre-season camps as a professional environment to prepare ourselves for the 2009 season, and as an opportunity to be involved with the community of Coffs Harbour and the people of the area."
