17 Nov 08 - Coffs Harbour Mayor elected Chair of NSW Country Mayors’ Association
Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Keith Rhoades, was re-elected unopposed as Chair of the Country Mayors' Association at its AGM in Sydney on Friday.
Cr Rhoades was first appointed to the position of State Chair in 2007 and is delighted with his reappointment.
"This gives me the opportunity, following my appointment to the Executive of the NSW Local Government Association, to ensure issues affecting regional, rural and coastal NSW are on the agenda" said Cr Rhoades.
"I will be trying to maximise State and Federal funding to these areas through my representation of Country Mayors".
Cr Rhoades has taken on a stronger role in representing local government from regional and rural NSW by being elected to these positions.
This week Cr Rhoades is in Canberra for the first meeting of the Australian Council of Local Government. He will attend workshops on infrastructure investment and the engagement of local goverment in national policy development.
