Coffs Harbour 2030
What future do you see for Coffs Harbour in 2030 and beyond?
Council is currently undertaking an exciting project to help us better plan for the future of Coffs Harbour. We have received state government funding to develop a long term vision and plan for the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area (LGA) and we want maximum community involvement.
Where are we?
Stage 2 - The Coffs Harbour 2030 Plan
We are currently undertaking Stage 2 of the Coffs Harbour 2030 project, being the development of the Coffs Harbour 2030 Plan. This 2030 Plan will outline the strategic actions that we (Council, agency partners and the community) need to take in order to achieve the vision as detailed in the Community Vision 2030 document.
As part of the consultation for the development of the 2030 Plan, Council hosted a number of events:
- 2030 Interagency Forum 19 March 2009
- 2030 Business Information Night 27 March 2008
- 2030 Youth Forum 8 April 2009
- 2030 Community Summit 2 May 2008
The draft 2030 Plan is on public exhibition from 26 October 2009 to 27 November 2009.
What is Vision/Coffs Harbour 2030?
This project is a very significant step for Council as this will become our strategic planning document, driving our planning and actions for the next 20 or more years. 'Coffs Harbour 2030' is continuing the work begun by the 'Vision 2020' process that happened in 1993 and includes an extensive community engagement process. There are two important stages to this project:
1. Community Vision 2030 - building on and updating Vision 2020 to become Vision 2030, the new vision of the community for the future of the Coffs Harbour area. This stage is now complete and the Vision 2030 document will shortly be put to Council for adoption.
2. The 2030 Plan - identifying together what steps we need to take over the next 20+ years to move us towards achieving the vision. The Plan identifies not only strategic actions for Council but will also act as a guiding document for the wider community and other agencies operating within the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area.
