What Council's Doing

Project Approval

The Coffs Harbour Water Filtration Plant (WFP) has been approved as a Major Project under Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 by the NSW Minister for Planning Frank Sartor. There are currently no other environmental permits, approvals or licenses relevant to the construction of the WFP. 

Environmental Management

The environmental monitoring programs and the construction environmental management plans can be inspected at the project site office located at 140 Upper Orara Road Karangi. 

Construction

The design and construction will be undertaken as part of an alliance contract with Coffs Infrastructure Allliance. The process design is being undertaken by GHD, the principal contractor consists of a joint venture with Abigroup and John Holland. CNF&A and Aquatec Maxcon are providing the electrical and mechanical expertise. 

Coffs Harbour City Council will be internally undertaking the earthworks component of the project which is due to start on 15 October 2007 with the overall construction program due to be completed by April 2009. During this time traffic control on Upper Orara Road will be implemented as required.
