18 Sept 2007 - One Stop Shop For Education and Training Help
A comprehensive section on the education and training help available to businesses locally and in NSW has been established on Council's website.
"Staying competitive is the key to a successful long-term business," said Jenny Oloman, Council's Economic Development Manager.
"Training your staff, keeping them motivated and up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies is essential to achieving that goal.
"Staff benefit too, learning new skills and becoming a valued asset in any organisation.
"That's why we developed the 'Education and Training' section. The aim is to offer a wealth of information on issues such as identifying what skills a business's staff need to develop, finding the right training provider and right through to accessing any relevant government funding," she said.
The new 'Education and Training' section can be found on Council's website under the area on the menu headed: 'Business and Industry'. Click on that heading, then 'Business Assistance' and 'Education and Training'.
The website section contains information to help businesses find the training that is relevant to their organisation.
There are number of pages within the section. These include:
- Identifying Your Organisation's Needs
- Selecting the Right Training
- Employing and/or Training a Young Person
- Apprenticeships and Traineeships
- School-based Apprentices and Trainees
- Assistance for Upskilling Your Existing Workforce
- Attracting or Retaining Mature Age Workers
- Getting Advice on Training Options
- Collaborating with Education and Training Organisations
- Local Registered Training Organisations
- Local Contacts
- Useful Websites
"There is a huge amount of State and Federal help available, but it can be confusing for business-owners," said Ms Oloman.
"Hopefully, this new section on our website will be a 'one stop shop' of information and a good place to get local businesses started in the right direction," she said.
