Beyond the Frame - student exhibition - arthropoda
This program connects students from public schools in years 5 and 6 and years 7 and 8 to the gallery and an exhibiting regional artist.
The artist students worked with was Cass Samms, a Yamba-based sculptor, who exhibited at the gallery in May 2009. Cass's insect-inspired sculptures were a great starting point for the students who visited the gallery for a floor talk and special lesson with Cass. Cass then visited each school during the term for a follow-up lesson in the classroom. The results of this work will be on display at a student exhibition in the gallery on 25 September.
The schools involved are Coffs Harbour Public School, Lowannna Public School, Narranga Public School, Dorrigo High School and Orara High School.
This wonderful opportunity has all been made possible through the Beyond the Frame grant.
