Changes to Bus Stop Locations and Routes

The bus stop on the west bound side of Harbour Drive located between Barrie and Glenreagh Streets will be relocated 100m further west to be clear of the works.

Bus passengers who usually connect with Sawtell buses outside the TAFE Campus at Glenreagh Street, will need to walk to Curacoa Street, opposite the tennis courts to meet up with the bus.

Permanent Traffic Changes

Eventually when all works are completed and the new road opened, traffic movement around the city will be greatly improved. There will be some permanent changes for motorists using some local roads, as set out below.

From May 2007 onwards, there will be a new junction layout for vehicles leaving and entering the western end of Victoria Street (see plan below).

This means: 

1. The new Victoria Street and Hogbin Drive Extension intersection will be left in, left out only. Drivers using Victoria Street or Howard Lane will still be able to make a left hand turn from Victoria Street into the Hogbin Drive Extension to travel to the Sawtell area.
   
2. Drivers travelling from the new Harbour Drive roundabout on the Hogbin Drive Extension will still be able to make a left turn into Victoria Street.
   
3. Motorists wishing to access Victoria Street from the south can continue along Hogbin Drive to the new Harbour Drive roundabout. Motorists can turn right at the roundabout into Harbour Drive and access Victoria Street via Dibbs Street or Boambee Street. Alternatively motorists can do a 'U' turn at the roundabout and turn left back into Victoria Street.
   
4. Motorists from Victoria Street wanting to travel into the CBD or anywhere north, can join Harbour Drive using the old section of Hogbin Drive, Dibbs Street or Boambee Street.
