Grace Roberts Awards
Council and the Yandaarra Aboriginal Consultative Committee launched the Grace Roberts Community Development Award in 1999 to acknowledge individuals who have made a significant contribution to enhancing the quality of life of Aboriginal people in the Coffs Harbour area.
The Grace Roberts Community Development Award celebrates the memory of Grace Roberts who came to Coffs Harbour in 1963 and, as a parent, friend, grandmother, aunt, advisor, disciplinarian, visionary and campaigner, worked towards the betterment of her people.
She was instrumental in establishing a number of local services and, through leadership and by example, improved the quality of life for all Indigenous people in Coffs Harbour.
