Education Overview

Coffs Harbour has a wide variety of primary and high schools including an excellent selection of private schools, plus two TAFE campuses and a University. Families can rest easy with a good number of kindergartens and child-care centres spread thoughout the community, offering short and long day care services.

A large number of education facilities are located basically under the one roof, at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus, commonly referred to as 'CHEC'.  Students from around the world and right across Australia choose to study at CHEC because of the excellent range of educational opportunities the campus has to offer. This state-of-the-art facility includes Southern Cross University, the North Coast Institute of TAFE, Coffs Harbour Senior College and the English Language Centre.

Having an education campus within the city means that new programmes and services are increasingly being offered in response to the emerging needs of the community and local industries. As a result, the expansion of our education facilities has created more employment opportunities for the people of Coffs Harbour.
