Beach Wheelchair

This beach wheelchair can be used for freeA specially-designed wheelchair that allows people with disabilities and the elderly to fully enjoy a trip to the beach is available for use for free on any of Coffs Harbour's beaches.

The light-weight chair is designed to work well on soft sand, so it can be pushed across the beach and into the water to give the person using them the chance to enjoy the waves.

The wheelchair was donated to the city's Lifeguards Service by Coffs Harbour resident Sylvia Taylor in memory of her husband Tony, a former RAAF veteran, in April 2006.

The beach wheelchair will be housed at the Coffs Harbour Lifeguard Service facility at Park Beach, but Council's Lifeguards are happy to arrange transport to another beach location with the Coffs Harbour local government area for anyone wishing to use the chair.

Arrangements to use the wheelchair can be made by contacting the Lifeguards at Council on 6648 4000, or Senior Lifeguard Sonny Tisdell on 0428 285 073.
