19 Apr 2006 - Seniors Week Scooter Prize Presented
A motorised wheelchair, donated as a prize for Seniors Week by Scooters & Mobility of Coffs Harbour, has been presented to the winners at a ceremony in Council's Main Administration Building.
Graham Fraser, the owner of Scooters & Mobility, has been supplying scooters and other mobility equipment in the Coffs Harbour area since 1993, is keen to support community efforts to help people stay mobile.
The motorised wheelchair is a Sterling "Amber", a small scooter designed for indoor or level outdoor use. It pulls apart easily for storing in car boots and can be used in shopping centres or malls, so is particularly useful for people who find it hard to walk around while shopping.
"Scooters, or motorised wheelchairs, have become a very familiar sight on the streets of the Coffs Harbour region - which just goes to show their popularity," said Councillor Clive Joass, who performed the official handover of the wheelchair to the winners - Charlie and Jean Holder of Moonee Beach.
"There were two information sessions on their use during Seniors Week which were both well-attended.
"I'd like to thank Graham Fraser for his generosity in donating this valuable prize," he said.
