7 Apr 2006 - Ambassadors Sought for ‘Invest in Coffs Harbour’ Message

Coffs Harbour City Council and its business partners within the community are taking the 'Invest in Coffs' message to the next level.

"Encouraging inward investment by both businesses and families is the key to creating wealth in a regional area," said Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Keith Rhoades.

"Council is keenly focused on this goal, but we can't do it alone. That's why we work in close partnership with the existing business sector.

"We know that anyone interested in moving to a new community will speak to a large number of people during that process. We understand that everyone is an ambassador - every time we speak to or host friends and family we're showcasing our city.

"But we also want to work with those who have daily contact with potential new residents or business people. These are also Coffs Harbour's 'ambassadors' and they are the people we want to reach to spread the 'Invest in Coffs' message," he said.

Council is launching a package of information on Coffs Harbour's economic data, attractions, education facilities, lifestyle and future goals for key industry representatives to access and provide for anyone interested in moving to the city.

"These key groups - such as training providers and real estate agencies - are often the first port of call for anyone making the move to our area," said Council's Economic Development Manager Megan Dixon.

"We want to make sure that we can provide them with the kind of data that they might need to provide instant answers to the many questions that anyone moving to a new city, whether for business or lifestyle, will have.

"We're also hoping that the partnership will work both ways and Council will receive business leads on new ventures, so that we can offer as much help as we can at the earliest opportunity," she said.
