What Council's Doing

Harbourside Boundaries and Map

Redefinition of Boundaries

One of the first steps in the creation of a new plan for the Harbourside project took place in March 2005, when the project area's boundaries were redefined.

The Harbourside project will incorporate the City's waterside areas from the Harbour up to the intersection of Hogbin Drive and Harbour Drive, south to Howard Street and north to include Coffs Creek (see map below).

One of the primary aims is to link the Harbour with the Jetty to create one viable area and not two competing areas. By creating one hub, the visual appearance of the whole area will be improved and there will be a better balance between leisure and commercial needs.

The area will include the Harbour Precinct (the land area east of the railway line), the Jetty Precinct (the business area west of the railway line) and a residential precinct (located west of the railway line).

Council wants to preserve the area's unique environmental qualities, balanced with the opportunity to create a vibrant working and leisure space on the waterfront, and thinks it is important that the area is seen as one clearly identified and easily recognisable area of the City for the local community, surrounding areas and visitors.
