Planning & Development - Overview
Council has a Land Use, Health & Development department that manages development within the city to ensure that it meets the environmental, social and economic aspirations of Council and the community.
In this section you can access Council's overall zoning plans, view specific development control plans, download various building and development application forms and check the zoning of a particular property in the LEP maps.
You can also view lists of development applications submitted to Council (or see if there are any DA's on public exhibition), and check the Fees & Charges associated with building and development services.
For comprehensive planning information and guidelines, see the pages in the Planning Process section or check the various information sheets available.

Coffs Harbour's population of 68,000 (2006) is expected to grow to over 100,000 by the year 2030.
Careful planning and development is needed to ensure this community has adequate housing, employment, shops, schools, recreational, medical and transport facilities as well as adequate water and sewerage services.
Council has prepared an Urban Development Strategy which provides long-term planning for our community. It addresses housing needs, economic development, physical infrastructure, community services and recreation facilities.
Long term planning is required to ensure that Council meets the economic and social needs of future generations, without compromising the values of the natural environment of Coffs Harbour.
