Expressions of Interest: Jetty4Shores Public Art Project

The Jetty4Shores Project will establish the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshores precinct as a key destination on the Coffs Coast and a landmark project for Australia. The public art components will include Maritime history, Aboriginal stories and coastal environmental themes in interpretation and design.

The different elements comprise: Gumbaynggirr stories told through design at the entrance of the already established walkway and interpretive signage that will follow a new boardwalk along the coastline extending from the Jetty towards the Yacht Club; Designs to be stencilled into concrete paths that weave their way through the market/picnic area and also cut into timber panelling at designated picnic areas and stage in the market area; Sculptural play pieces to be placed through the newly developed picnic/market area; and artwork for two water stations.

Expressions of interest are being sought in the following areas:

  • Artists living on the Coffs Coast who would be interested in facilitating two art workshops with up to 30 youth aged 12 to 20 years.
  • Youth living on the Coffs Coast aged 12 to 20 years who would be interested in attending an art workshop facilitated by professional artists; with the objective of creating a design/motif/artwork in alignment with the theme of the coastal environment that would be used for stencilling into concrete paths and cut into timber frames.
  • Aboriginal artists interested in facilitating a workshop with Aboriginal youth to create artworks and/or designs that will reflect stories relevant to this area’s history.
  • Aboriginal youth interested in attending an art workshop facilitated by Aboriginal artists and Gumbaynggirr Elders to create artworks and/or designs that will reflect stories relevant to this area’s history.
  • Artists and/or community living on the Coffs Coast to submit design ideas for sculptural play pieces.
