Coffs Harbour City Council Bike Plan
Council is developing a new bike plan for the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area.
The development of this plan is funded by Council’s Environmental Levy and the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and will be completed by June 2014.
The bike plan is part of the process to achieve the objectives for cycling in the Vision 2030 community plan covering infrastructure, safety, promotion and awareness of cycling.
Council conducted an online survey during November to collect community input about cycling facilities across the Coffs Harbour LGA.
Respondents were asked for their priorities on ‘missing links’, upgrades needed, signage, parking, as well as anything they liked or appreciated about existing cycling facilities.
This information is being collated and will be used to help formulate the Bike Plan, and prioritise projects for the Cycling Infrastructure Works Plan.

Spring Sunday Bike Count
Council conducted its first recreational bike count on Sunday 24 November 2013 from 7-9am and 10am - 12pm.
The information collected will be used as baseline data for the Bike Plan and will complement the 'Super Tuesday' commuter count data collected over the past three years.
The collected data provides a ‘snapshot’ of recreational bike riding numbers and preferred routes across the LGA that can be compared on an annual basis.

Super Tuesday is Australia’s largest visual bike count and takes place annually in regional and metropolitan areas across Australia. On Super Tuesday, bike riders were counted on their morning commute in Coffs Harbour, with the data going to help councils identify how and where bike facilities can be improved.
The 2013 count was on Tuesday 3 September from 7 - 9am
