Fiddaman Road Streetscape Emerald Beach
Construction has started in early February 2017 on the upgrade of Fiddaman Road and associated improvements, following extensive consultations with representatives of the Emerald Beach community.

The $2,708,309 project will deliver improved traffic and pedestrian safety, with road surface improvements and construction of a 2.5-metre cycleway throughout the length of Fiddaman Road, in addition to landscaping and drainage works.

Improvements include:

·         Road pavement strengthening to a formal 9-metre width

·         Rolled kerb

·         Street printed and line-marked car parks in the commercial area

·         2.5-metre wide shared cycleway/footpath with street print pattern, located on the northern side of Fiddaman Road

·         Shade trees and planting beds

·         Seating

·         Bike racks

·         Road drainage and filling of existing dangerous open drains

·         Additional bus stops

The commercial area streetscape vision is for a pedestrian-friendly, attractive and inviting streetscape that encourages dining and retail shopping.

Preliminary concept designs were exhibited at the Emerald Beach Fair last year and subsequently revised following resident feedback. Designs were then further refined and finalised through one-on-one consultations with traders and through a series of meetings and technical design workshops with representatives of the United Residents Group of Emerald (URGE).

This extensive design involvement by residents has helped to achieve the local community’s vision for its village, entry roadway, cycleway, landscaping and commercial area.

The works are expected to be completed by May, weather willing.
