Wrap With Love - library knitters unite for a good cause

KnittingIt was standing room only at Coffs Harbour Library on Saturday 13 June as we celebrated World Wide Knit in Public Day.  With knitters and spinners coming along to share ideas and patterns, and a "cuppa and a chat", we also took the opportunity to ask for donations to the Wrap with Love project.

The event gave people a chance to come along and learn how to knit, and there were a few experts on hand to ensure the craft continues.  With spinning wheels turning, needles clacking and lots of friendly chatter, it certainly brought the library alive.  A colourful display of the Library's knitting and craft books proved to be a great catalyst for discussion about patterns and trends in knitting.

As a result of the generosity of the community, we now have four beautiful wraps to send to the Wrap with Love project.  Two additional blankets are underway, and any knitted squares that continue to be dropped into the library are being quickly passed onto the volunteers who have offered to make the blankets a reality.  The library staff would like to thank the many people who have contributed to this opportunity to support a worthy cause.

We now look forward to World Wide Knit in Public Day 2010!

If you have knitted squares to contribute, you can drop them into Coffs Harbour, Toormina or Woolgoolga libraries.  If you wish to find out more about the project, please contact Judy at the library on 6648 4905.
