29 Apr 09 - Library Offers Free Book Club Service

With book clubs becoming increasingly popular, Coffs Harbour City Library is launching a brand new free service on May 12 offering extended loans of multiple copies of books and discussion materials.  

"The Book Club Kits include a minimum of six copies of a particular book, plus discussion questions and notes as well as the talking book or DVD version if it's available," said Library Manager Enzo Accadia. 

"The books are available for a six-week loan period with the option of one renewal. 

"By using this service, book club members who may find it difficult to buy every one of the books they read, will save money and still be able to take part in their club's activities," he said. 

The Library has already created a special Book Club collection of 26 contemporary titles to establish the service. 

"We're asking each book club that wishes to use this free service, to donate a minimum of six copies of an agreed title to complement the current book club collection," said Mr Accadia. 

"In that way we can expand the collection for other clubs and ensure it stays up to date with the latest releases." 

To use the service, book club members must also be members of the Coffs Harbour City Library Service. Each club then nominates a coordinator who takes charge of the book club's card to borrow the kits. Each club will also receive email notice of author visits and all the other library events held all year round. 

Book club members or people interested in joining or forming a book club are invited to the launch on Tuesday, May 12, at 6pm at Coffs Harbour City Library.
