17 Oct 08 - Partnership To Benefit Book-Lovers
Local library users and the wider community are set to benefit from a partnership established between Council and the Book Warehouse.
From Monday, October 20, customers who produce a library card while paying for their purchases at the Book Warehouse will have 5% of the total amount donated towards a Coffs Harbour City Library Service fund held by the store.
"This is a great idea that means the library users buying items at this local store will be contributing to the stock of books and other resources they get to use at the library - at the same time," said Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Keith Rhoades, who launched the partnership.
The 5% share of the purchases made by library card-holders will be held by the Book Warehouse and used by Council's library staff to buy further resources such as books, DVDs and audio books.
"Library staff buy a great deal of the books, DVDs, CDs and other resources the library provides for the community from suppliers within the area - rather than online - as it benefits the local economy," said Library Team Leader Carolyn Elmes.
"We're hoping to expand this type of partnership with other local businesses in the future."
Chris Verey, Manager of the Book Warehouse in Coffs Harbour, said they were delighted to be involved.
"The libraries offer a wonderful service to our community in so many ways and we're very happy to be able to support our local community through the libraries with this partnership," she said.
