Inter-Library Loans
An Inter-Library Loan (I.L.L.) service is available to obtain information or items for Library members from other libraries or information agencies from around Australia, and sometimes from overseas. If what you need is not found in our local collection then we can usually obtain it via I.L.L. If we assess that the item you have requested would be suitable to add to our collection, we will endeavour to purchase it instead.
Requests are taken in-person or online using our online request forms below (for members only - a Library card number and PIN/Password is required):

I.L.L. Charges
From 01 Jul 2005, the Library will be charging an Administration Fee for all Item and Photocopy requests. Users should also note that some lending libraries also charge our Library for these loans (eg. university libraries and the national library). These charges are passed directly onto the user, see our Fees & Charges page for details (under the 'inter-library loan/copy' section). You should indicate whether you are willing to go this far to obtain an item - we always try 'free' sources first.
Service Guidelines
- Core Service: I.L.L. requests are normally sent daily, with supply of item taking on average 2-3 weeks. Copy requests are usually obtained within 2 weeks.
- Priority Service: if you need an item urgently, this is the service to choose. Requests are processed immediately and supply of the item or information should take no more than 48 hours (if locatable). Extra charges however apply.
- Non Collection of Items: a penalty fee applies if item/copy is not collected.
- New novels: recently released fiction is not available on I.L.L.
Contact the I.L.L. Officer for further details.
