Children
The Library provides the following services for children:
Storytime
Weekly storytime sessions for pre-school aged children ... more information.
Children's Book Week
The Library celebrates Children's Book Week every year with special activities. All short-listed books detailed in the Children's Book of the Year Awards are purchased and added to the Library's collection.
Library Resources
The Library's Collections specifically have material aimed at children. This includes junior fiction & non-fiction books, picture books, board books, talking books (audio), videos, music CDs and magazines.
Reading area
Each branch library has space and furniture in the Children's areas for reading. Parents often read to their children in these areas.
Homework tables
There are also tables for children to do their homework, these are also located in the Children's area.
Computers
Children can use the Library's public access computers for Document Processing and for searching the Internet. Parents should be aware of the Library's Public Access Internet Guidelines.
Homework Help
Library staff at each of our branches can assist children to find information for their homework questions. Library staff use this opportunity to show children how to go about the process themselves to make them more independent library users. This is part of the Library's Information Service.
Kids Zone
Page of quality Internet sites (links) aimed at children. Kids Zone is broken into three sections: sites for bookworms, sites for info, & sites for fun!
