The CBD Special Rate

Since 2000/2001 the CBD Special Rate has provided funding for City Centre projects such as road works for Harbour Drive, the conversion of the former High Street Mall into City Square, car parking upgrades and streetscape improvements.

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) in June 2012 approved a one-year continuation of the CBD Special Rate for 2012/2013. Funding from the 2012/2013 Special Rate was used to develop the City Centre Masterplan.

City Centre Masterplan

The City Centre Masterplan maps the future for our City Centre. The Plan contains a number of strategies and projects that support key priorities previously identified through the Masterplan community consultation process. These key priorities include a focus on revitalising the City Centre to stimulate economic activity.

Read the first part of the adopted Coffs Harbour City Centre Masterplan 2031 and the second part which contains the projects.

Approval to Extend CBD Special Rate from 2013/2014

IPART in June 2013 approved Council’s application to have the CBD Special Business Rate extended for a further ten- year period from 1 July 2013. Funding from the extended Special Rate will allow the completion of a City Centre works program which has been developed around strategies identified in the City Centre Masterplan.
